arc question

Hi

After my recent quest for an arc tmic Pulsarbob kindly found me one, which i was delighted about. so thanks Bob!

I have just fitted it and on the top side (bulk head) just before the rubber hose connector i noticed a small 2-3 mm hole in the arc pipe, the hole goes all the way through the pipe. Is this the way arc tmic's are or is it the case that i should block it. After speaking to Bob he said i should ask the question on here.

I drove the car with the hole blocked and unblocked and did'nt notice any real difference. Both myself and pulsarbob thought that it would loose boost pressure with it open.

Any thoughts on this are much appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi thanks for the reply i don't understand what you mean. The hole is in the intercooler itself just before where it goes into the rubber pipe secured by the large jubilee clip, the small hole is on the side facing the near side strut

Maybe the last owner had some kind of sensor fitted before.

Thats the pipe mate its part of the intercooler. i think Odin maybe right because the hole has some thread as if something was connected there. But as you showed in the pic thats the correct pipe its just before it goes into the silicone/rubber ic pipe.
thanks

My plenum has a threaded hole for my Motec air temp sensor ;-) .

Thanks Odin when you say plenum is that what i am referring too. I am not too good with techincal chat!! I have blocked it up with a screw as i assumed it would be better of that way. What are your thoughts.

Many thanks for the prompt reply

No mate, The plenum is the bit that sits on top of the throttle bodies ;-) , The bit you are referring to is the inter cooler outlet pipe which goes to the plenum.

i reckon robs right, could possibly of had an air temp sensor fitted there at some stage, which would be in the correct place just before air reaches plenum.
in which case you will need to block it up as you will lose boost pressure through there!

Yes but I'd put some plumbers tape on it before screwing it in  .

Hi bob thanks i have blocked it up and the car seems the same. You asked e to tell you what i thought of the intercooler. It feels a little more torquey than before. Also when the car is very hot it has stopped sufferring from heat soak/power loss so i think its a good investment

Thanks again
