Sti Type RA vs GTiR

Last night on a private road, i met up with a mate of mine who is a scooby fanatic.

Needless to say, he looked at my car and started giving it the usual highland toffee. So to set matters straight, i offered him a sprint from a stop to a 1st gear rolling start.

Now, he claims his Subaru is close to 300bhp, (280 standard with filter, exhaust, FMIC etc). It has a cheesy wotsit load of torque, it certainly gives more of a pull-back then my GTiR.

So my car is supposed to be running 297bhp (0.9bar) with some good torque, anyway we are lined up on the private test and start rolling in 1st, he gives it some and i give it some and he pulls ahead in 1st, im soon in 2nd and catching up at an alarming speed. Now we are approching 3rd and ive gone well past him. Ive given him a gap of 5 cars and we both slowed down for a pigeon on the private road.

Are Subaru's really that slow? I was expecting a neck on neck race as my GTiR doesnt have the best condition clutch at the minute aswell..

It was a 4dr type-ra.

If you can decipher that lot, it basically says the RA loses out to a 280R all across the board. But its not THAT far behind. Courtesy of www.letstorquebhp.com

yes will will find the scooby doo puts up back in the seat as the turbo is a bit bigger & kicks in later hence stuck in the seat but once you go throw the gears the pulsar pulls away with ease ,but of the mark the scob is faster

When my R was running I hosesd a Scooby RA on the back roads.

The guy kept trying but he had no chance, I was pushing him all the way and having to back off he was that slow, the just went passed on a straight

My brother in law runs a sti3 v limited wagon with eXhaust & filter and there is no contest 1st gear is the only gear he is near level with me, by the time i'm changing into 3rd i've pulled about 1 to 1.5 full car lengths ahead and when we are are in third i just roar away.
I will say though when your in the scooby it does push you back in your seat more than the R and gives you the impression that its quick.

My R runsjust under 1.2 bar with filter and exhaust(decat)
3rd gear feel like they are endless in the R, for me that's where it really shows up most cars.

As above, there used to be a bunch of posts about people having a blast with other cars. I loved reading them all.

wait till you come up against merc sl55 amg's, audi rs4's and fq360's and 600cc sports bikes. thats when the little r really satisfies you. those mercs are dog slow for 500bhp. 0-60 in 4.5.
i must say my missus was more shocked than me.
ive only ever been beaten by one car and that was a mk2 golf running 331bhp, he didnt pull away that fast either, plus he only won because it was a third gear roller so he could get traction.

if you like reading about races...the gtir moddifiers forum has a huge section called 'youve been r'd '
