    Stripping sound deadening....

Yes, I've also heard that freeze spray followed by hitting with a hammer works quite well. Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivcZWhHhnrU Personally, I just used a chisel to break off the majority of it. Then to remove the little hard black bits of tar I covered the floor in...

Will any SR20det elbow fit or do I need the pulsar one?

The 200sx elbows will mate up to the exhaust outlet, but will not line up with the GTiR downpipe. People have bought 200sx elbows and modified them to fit. If you're handy with a welder then I'm sure you can do the same? Cheers, Dave

    Exhaust Noise

Great, thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at these guys (and similar) to see what's best. I'll also be interested to see your frequency analysis for your own 3 tests once you get it completed. Many thanks, Dave PS - thanks for employing punctuation in your posts................ makes the...

    What would people like written.

That's what I thought, but it's nice to hear feedback from someone who actually knows what they're doing! :-D I am looking forward to reading your write-ups, they should be very helpful indeed! Many thanks, Dave

    What would people like written.

Yes, I agree that this would be very useful indeed. Also, I would be grateful for some information on when to use a head torquing plate during an engine rebuild. These head torque plates can be found (for example) here: HEAD TORQUE PLATE I know they should be used during the honing process...

Cylinder head cooling, thermostats and expansion tanks: Discussion...

I was thinking more along the lines of where the pump actually is in relation to the bulk of the coolant. I suppose if you run the extra coolant lines relatively inline with the rest of the system, you'll not be increasing the work required to circulate the coolant. Plus, if the pressure and...

Cylinder head cooling, thermostats and expansion tanks: Discussion...

Does anyone know how much (roughly) the typical coolant volume will increase when this is done? Assuming a 35mm diameter hose going the full length of the car (~4m) and back again to the engine adds about 7.5 litres of coolant, but I'm sure this is an overestimate. Regardless, does the added...

    No gtirs on pistonheads

My old Calibra was (oddly) the most reliable car I've ever owned. Five MOT passes in a row without even blinking, and no major roadside blow-ups. It made it to 150,000 miles before I sold it and bought a Pulsar. Now I wish the same reliability record could be passed to my GTiR...

    Standard wheels in Ireland

Unfortunately i was in the same boat as you. In the end I had to buy standard wheels from England, which only cost about £40 p&p to get them across to Ireland. Well worth it if you can find a set in good condition! Good luck, Dave

    Exhaust Noise

Good write up. Informative and very helpful. Have you had any experience with re-packable silencers? Just wondering if some decats can be re-packed with new wadding to give even more sound-deadening ability. And if so, what type(s) of wadding are best for optimum sound reduction? Many thanks! Dave

    wanted evo injectors or similar

I would recommend you look over in the MLR (www.lancerregister.com) as often they list standard injectors quite cheaply. I got the 560cc Evo injectors (red body) for £50 including an ultrasonic clean and delivery. Cheers, Dave
