Sold my GtiR about four years ago, regretted it the minute the guy drove off. Im currently driving an Evo 6 but need to sell this to raise cash, but with the spare money i'll hopefully buy another GTiR. My questions are what typeof car could i get for 4k ie full rebuild etc. There's a few on pistonheads that look okay. Also now hiteq have gone (who i used to go to) who else tune's these now?

4k should get you at least a forged engine and you may drop lucky and pick one up with a quaiffe aswell, but may need some tlc bodywise. Have a look at snoon's for sale on here, you'd get a good basic spec and have a few quid left over to get it how you want. Or you'd prob get a pretty much mint one but without the forged build. Depends on your priority really.
Tuning wise depends what you mean, just mapping????

Blimey, loads of peeps coming back to the R. I hope you don't get as disheartened as me Chris. I've been away since 04/05 and I feel like the mighty R got ANCIENT all of a sudden! I've got a budget of 2-3k and want something as standard as possible to become a mothballed museum peice as I feel like there won't be any left at all in a few years!

Mapping and just general maintenace, fit clutches etc, as im not very good with cars. My main thing when i buy one is a clean rust free body.

lol tbh i dont break that many any more (far too many doing that now), i would rather sell cars complete for someone else to enjoy as theres not that many left anymore.
we now mainly concentrate on doing the engine builds and work side of things and just break the odd one here and there.

as for 2-3k e3apc give me a shout as may have something that will interest you in red which will come with years mot, 6 months tax and full service before collection

Im looking ideally for a white one, the two on pistonheads both have sold under them now, so where else is a good place to find them forsale? Im looking in the normal places here, the other gtir site, pistonheads autotrader etc

I'd ideally like white too. But again you'll get frustrated looking, the ones on pistonheads, any colour, rarely change, you'll get about about 5 on autotrader and you get 1-2 a month on the 2 owners club sites. I've been looking solidly for 4 weeks and its pretty frustrating

it looked good then but ruins a car nowdays!

Hi colin the police took the car for 6months, in the end they gave it back to me (i had to pay £800 storage costs) But i didnt have titlement to it. In the end we got fed up and rang the police and said either put the car in our name or come and collect it so they gave it to us. They had to give the owner in japan a chance to collect it which he didnt. so i sold it for 7k i lost so much money in all that and sold a mint fast pulsar for all that hassle.

4k will defo get a nice one, I've bought good for less. The prices now adays for a gtir are crazy, it works out cheaper to buy one for spares than to buy spare bits. I'm sure and hope in the future the price of these cars go up especially when you have spent like me well over 10k over the years on these cars, and still end up a 3k shed lol.

Whats my chances of getting a white one though with no rusty arches lol, nearly all the adds in pistonheads say rusty arches.
